Truck Steps // Step Bars // Running Boards
Steps and running boards are one of the first options many truck owners put on their vehicles. With trucks getting bigger and bigger, it can be difficult for even those who are not vertically challenged to easily get in and out of their vehicles. Rock ‘n Road Outfitters at House of Wheels offers a variety of options to make that a bit easier.
Truck Steps – these are generally universal or semi-universal single steps that mount by drilling into the rocker panel. They can be a low (lower) cost option, but they are not widely used because of the concerns about rust starting at the points where the drilling took place. Here are some of the truck steps we offer:

Step Bars – whether you call them step bars, sidesteps, nerf bars, tube steps, step-ups or something else, they’re all the same. They are bars the mount to the frame and rocker panels generally using existing holes so that no drilling is required. They come with a pad for each door, and they can also be had in a “wheel-to-wheel” version that extends beyond the doors to give you a third step right in front of the rear tire to help you get at things in the front of your bed. There are many versions of step bars – round (3″ tubes), oval (4″, 5″ and 6″) and drop-down (bar fits snug against truck with footholds that drop down from the bar). They are generally available in black (powder-coated mild steel with a (generally) 3-year warranty), polished (304 stainless steel with a limited lifetime warranty), and chrome (chrome-plated mild steel that generally carries a 3-year warranty). Styling on the 3″ rounds is all very similar, but the ovals and drop downs can vary widely. This will give you an idea of what you have to choose from:

Running Boards – Running boards are flat boards made out of ABS plastic, aluminum, stainless steel or fiberglass. They provide a wider step surface to aid in getting into or out of a vehicle. Here are a few options available through Rock ‘n Road Outfitters at House of Wheels:
